Every time a politician runs out of money, the playbook is the same. Find someone rich. Point at them. Tell voters that person is why you can’t have nice things.

Progressives are especially good at this — and it works every time. Billionaires make easy villains. Most people will never meet one. They exist as abstractions — private jets and yachts and offshore accounts. Caricatures of greed that politicians can invoke without consequence.
